This weekend I went to the artsy theater in Hartford where they'll still play subtitled foreign films and saw Super Size Me. It's a documentary that is kinda like the film version of Fast Food Nation book.
This "normal" healthy guy goes on a McDonalds only diet (McDonalds for breakfast, lunch, and dinner) nothing touches his lips that isn't bought over the counter at a Mcdonalds for 30 days. He's a little overdramatic (or obviously a little biased) but it's amazing what happens to his body and health over the course of 30 days. His liver pretty much says "no mas" by the end.
Will make you really really consider what you put in your mouth... er ... what fast food will do to your body/mind/health...

Saw National Lampoon's Van Wilder last nite .. really funny movie. It contains all the classic elements of a good college movie ala PCU & Animal House:
- handsome slacker w/ several funny buddies / sidekicks
- unattainable beautiful girl that slacker falls for
- boorish guy in a frat dating unattainable girl
- crisis, in this case brought on by parent
- inevitable happy ending / huge party
In addition to these essential items there are the occasional sit in, setting oneself on fire during sex, and more.
This is an all-around funny and enteraining flick.

This weeks Guy's night movie is Old School! Will Ferrel, Luke Wilson, and Vince Vaughn (and Artie Lange for like 2 minutes) start a fraternity... all the fun of college, none of the education. Quintiessential Guys Night flick!
Mitch: "At this point, you might be asking yourself, 'why am I holding this 30lb. Cinder block in my hands?"

Mallrats is uglinessman's favourite movie in the Jay and Silent Bob saga. According to him, it's been compared to Animal House and Porky's quite a bit... To be more specific, it's been called the smart "Porky's" for the 90s, and it has several Animal House references and tributes.

I saw Pirates of The Carribean this weekend. I highly recommend it (at the least it beats the pants er... skirt off of Legally Blonde 2 which was horrific beyond words...)
If you can get over the occasionally CGI swanky-ness of some of the skeletal pirate's movements it was very convincingly done. I just found it very entertaining, and I predict a rash of Capt Jack Sparrow handles/usernames propogating the 'net now =P Very cool and well done character. Anyhow I didn't really want to do a "real" review... just wanted to say it was a good flick (mrs rampy even liked it)... and to link to this picture (read more to see pic)

Have you seen T3 yet? I tossed together a quick review of the flick for randomdrivel's movie review section, but it wouldn't post properly. Rather than waste it, I figured I'd psot it here. Click read more to read my review...
Side note... If Rampy was able to fix the reviews feature, to get rid of the bugs and such, would any of you our regular site visitors be interested in posting semi regualr movie reviews? Would anyone be overly offended if his fixes inadvertantly deleted the old reviews?

Hearken back to the halcyon days of 1991... a cat named George Bush was stylin' and profilin' in the White House... Musical dynamo Color Me Badd was in pitched battle with history's greatest Latin music track-- "Rico Suave" -- for radio supremacy. And for $4.75, you could see Bruce Willis' Master Opus The Last Boy Scout at the Strand Theater.
