    The Trebuchet

It's a big catapult (well sling shot to be technically correct) and you can throw really heavy things a long way with it. All sorts of things...

Pictures of a piano, a 40 gallon petrol bomb and a cow launched (separately) from a three-ton trebuchet.

One of the scariest stories you'll ever read is Ted's Caving Page.Written in a style that very much reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe, is a dark and terrifically intense story of a man who went caving and got more than he bargained for.

rampy--> sorta related: old drivel post about a hole a guy dug in his backyard (no really it's a compelling story!)

Norwegian police were scouring the country on Sunday for "The Scream" - Edvard Munch's masterpiece of existential angst and one of the world's most famous paintings - after armed robbers grabbed it and another painting off the wall of a crowded museum and sped off in a black station wagon.

Suicide? Use a tree, please. It's not fair to our train drivers!

In this article titled, "BR management decries suicide on rail tracks", the Botswana Railways management decries the use of trains for suicide and appeals to the public to use trees instead. This is such a screwed up thing to say, I don't even know where to begin. :)

I've reprinted the article in the extended text to save you some searching. The link is more for authenticity.

An American Airlines pilot who had just returned to work from a weeklong mission trip to Costa Rica, asked Christians on board to raise their hands and suggested the other passengers use the flight time to talk to the Christians about their faith.

VATICAN CITY -- In an unusual spectacle at the Vatican, Pope John Paul II presided Sunday over a performance of break-dancers who leaped, flipped and spun their bodies to beats from a tinny boom box.

The 83-year-old pontiff seemed to approve, waving his hand after each dancer completed a move, then applauding for the entire group. He watched the performance from a raised throne.

"For this creative hard work I bless you from my heart," he said.
