Die Hard/Die Hard 2:Die Harder DVD SE Boxset

Ok, I\'m going to go through reviewing most, if not all, of my DVD collection....
I am quite bored, and my parents think I\'m doing revision :-)
Back to the review...
If you haven\'t seen Die Hard, you probably have been hiding under a rock since 1988. But for those not familiar with the story, it is something like this:
Its Christmas eve and a group of terrorists have seized the Nakatomi Plaza; a skyscraper in LA, and taken hostages. However, their well planned procedures come to fault when a lone resistance, John McClane, escapes detection. This off-duty New York cop has to battle against not only the terrorists, but also the bumbling Police and FBI
This was a groundbreaking peice of cinema from director John McTiernan. Not only did it revolutionise the action genre, but IMHO the whole of cinema. The things that made this film stand out from the crowd were what are seen as standard today, but were hardly ever seen in mainstream 80\'s movies.
McTiernan was a great follower of the European school of film making, and did not like the way in which all action \'heroes\' were almost viewed as \'non-living\'; i.e., non-feeling, emotionless two-dimentional characters with no backrounds to speak of. John wanted to bring emotion into the action genre. He wanted the audience to doubt the solidity of the hero. He wanted the hero to, in a sense, bleed infront of the audience.
He acchieves just that; literally. But he brings other previously non-seen elements into American cinema. Most of these are things like intentional jump-cuts, and the movement of the camera; to move with ... (to be continued)
